The U.S. Army has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation a contract valued over $200 million to produce High Explosive Proximity medium-caliber ammunition. The 30x113mm ammunition is integrated with a proximity sensor that only needs to get close enough to detect a target before detonation. Production will occur at Northrop facilities in Minnesota and Rocket Center, West Virginia.
