Dave Parker died Saturday at the age of 74, just one month away from his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Nicknamed "The Cobra" by announcer Bob Prince, Parker was the National League MVP in 1978 and won two batting titles. He was known for a rifle arm in right field and his fearless baserunning. Parker helped lead the Pirates to the World Series title in 1979. He spent 11 years with the Pirates and later played for the Cincinnatir Reds and three other clubs.
