On November 17, 2025 the Cumberland Police Department and the Allegany County Combined Investigative Unit, and the Cumberland Emergency Response Team conducted a search warrant in the 1500 block of Oldtown Road. This stemmed from an alleged threat of mass violence incident that occurred overnight. Expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues. At this time there is no threat to the public and the investigation is ongoing.

At this time, Maria Mastropasqua has been taken into custody as a result of this investigation. She has been transported to the Allegany County Detention Center pending her initial appearance with a District Court Commissioner.
