The state of Maryland has relaxed their officer Comparative Compliance program rules for hiring certified officers from neighboring states. In respond the City of Cumberland is updating hiring incentive for officers from other states to be eligible for the same $15,000 bonus that Maryland-certified officers receive. Acting Chief Eric Bonner says Pennsylvania is already working with Maryland…
“The Maryland Police Training Commission has come on board with Pennsylvania in what they call an “Act of 120,” and as long as they have a certain amount of hours they’re allowing them to meet Comparative Compliance with the state of Maryland and certifying them in to Maryland officers.”
