It’s called the lock-in effect – when people who want or need to move can’t because they cannot afford a new home. And it’s happening in Maryland – November’s Maryland Realtors report shows home sales fell almost 13% from last year, but the selling price of homes rose almost 7%. Active listings also fell and the time a house spent on the market increased. Denise Lewis, President of Maryland REALTORS® says families need attainable options. The realtors group is encouraging the General Assembly to consider practical reforms that will expand housing opportunity.
