September Is Peak of Asthma Season

Baltimore just landed on a national top 20 list as one of the toughest places to live with asthma, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. Dr. Matthew Greenhawt, AAFA’s Chief Medical Officer, says ragweed, mold and viruses are at their worst levels now and that leads to irritated lungs.  Dr. Greenhawt says there are classic asthma attack symptoms…

 

“Somebody is going to feel the increase coughing, you may feel short of breath, you may wheeze.  There could be coughing at night waking you up—sort of with a bang suddenly in the middle of the night.  Chest tightness, pain, and then reduction in activity—it’s just harder to go out and take a jog or ride your bike.”
