Snow Emergency Plan in Effect In Garrett County

The Maryland State Police in Garrett County, in coordination with the Maryland State Highway Administration, report that due to the pending ice storm, the Snow Emergency Plan for Garrett County was implemented at 0900 hours on December 26, 2025 The following highways have been designated as snow emergency routes in Garrett County: Interstate: I-68 U.S. Routes: US 40, US 50, US 219 Maryland Routes: MD 38, MD 39, MD 42, MD 135, MD 495, MD 546, MD 560, MD 669 Once the Snow Emergency Plan has been put into effect, Maryland Law requires motorists to operate vehicles equipped with snow tires, as designated by the manufacturer, or equipped with chains. Studded tires are allowed from November 1 through March 31.
