Special Day for a Special Man

May 4th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

A large crowd gathered in downtown Cumberland Saturday afternoon to pay tribute to Roger Lantz owner of M&M Bake Shop now retiring. Cumberland Mayor, Ray Morris read aloud a proclamation from the city and one from Governor Moore for the state of Maryland. Becky McClarran, president of the Downtown Cumberland Business Association hosted the event on Baltimore Street and had this to say about Roger….

"He's just special you know, he was always giving to our community and it's nice that we're able to give back to him a little bit today. That he's loved in our community and share the memories of M&M Bake Shop. It's been 59 years of that, it's been a staple here in Cumberland and that's a lot of donuts and that's a lot of cakes."

When you think about M&M Bake Shop and the number of birthday cakes, cookies and donuts created for your special event, a fitting tribute to Roger at the close of the event, the crowd sing Happy Birthday.
