On March 21st, 2023 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 100 block of Springdale Street for a reported assault. Upon officer’s arrival, they contacted Keith Shoemaker who had obvious signs of serious injuries. Through the officer’s investigation they learned that Keith and his wife, Kelly Shoemaker, were engaged in an argument that turned physical. The altercation continued to escalate which led to Kelly stabbing Keith twice. Due to this, Kelly was placed under arrest for the assault.
At this time, Keith became enraged and began to assault the arresting officers. After a brief struggle, Keith was also placed under arrest. Keith was transported to a local medical facility where he was treated for his prior injuries.
Both were later taken to the Allegany County Detention Center where they await their initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
Arrest: Kelly Marie Shoemaker, age 30, Cumberland Maryland.
Charges: Assault First Degree, Assault Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment.
Arrest: Keith Scott Shoemaker, age 34, Cumberland Maryland.
Charges: Four Counts of Assault Second Degree, Obstructing and Hindering, Resisting Arrest, Fail to Obey, Disorderly Conduct.
