During Tuesday’s Cumberland City Council meeting, police chief Jim Pyles recognized the promotion of two officers to the office of Lieutenant. Pyles said Lt. Barry Fickes holds certifications in several areas…

   

“Lt. Fickes is certified in DEA, clandestine lab and deconstruction. He’s also a member of the Western Region lab team and holds statewide jurisdiction granted by the Maryland State Police.”

“His responsibilities in that role include supervision of the department’s criminal and narcotic investigators. Assisting with the investigation of major cases, oversight of the property and evidence room, and managing the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network grant-associated operations.”
