Bishop Walsh School is making a change in its semester exam schedule this year. Exams had been previously administered in mid-January, but BW Principal Jennifer Flinn said that with the school’s college prep curriculum, it made sense to try a new approach…

   

“We decided to make a change. A lot of colleges of course, do exams right before they go on Christmas break, so we thought we would try that, too. And the goal was to reduce the stress for the students and the families so they could really enjoy the Christmas break without exams looming and trying to study.”

Mrs. Flinn added there are other benefits to exams coming before Christmas break…

   

“Academically, it made sense because the material they’re being assessed on is still fresh in their minds and that would help the teachers have more meaningful feedback. They can start fresh when they come back in January on new material.”
