On Sunday, July 6, 2025, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 400 Block of Virginia Avenue for a theft complaint. Upon arrival, Officers were provided with a description of a male they knew to be William Stewart Sr. The Officer located Stewart outside the store, where he was then detained. Upon watching security footage, Stewart was observed taking items from the store without making a purchase. Stewart was then observed taking a baked good from a display case and then spitting it out onto other items on the shelf. Stewart was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and released on two criminal complaint citations pending his trial at the Allegany County District Court.

ARRESTED:  William Morgan Stewart Sr   AGE:42          Cumberland, Maryland
CHARGES: Malicious Destruction of Property, Theft less than $100.00.
