The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police – Barrack C have combined resources to target open and active warrants. As a result, the following individuals have been apprehended:
Wednesday, June 18, 2025
Ben Richard Metheny, 46 of Cumberland, was served two (2) District Court Bench Warrants for Violation of Probation and Failure to Comply.
1) Original conviction in the VOP case is for Fraud-Persnal Identification to Avoid Prosecution where Judge Bean sentenced him to a 1-year jail term with 18-months supervised probation.
2) Original charges in the Failure to Comply case are Assault – Second Degree and Motor Vehicle/Unlawful Taking.
Metheny is being held without bond in both of these cases as well as for other charges.
Michael Patrick Sasser, was served two (2) Circuit Court Body-Attachments, Child Support Failure to Appear. Sasser was released on a $100 cash bond for each case.

Alyssa Ellen Hockenberry, 22 of Cumberland, was served a Circuit Court Bench Warrant for Violation of Probation. Her original conviction was in January 2025 where Judge Getty sentenced Hockenberry to a 4year jail term with all but 6-months suspended with 3-years supervised probation. Hockenberry is being held without bond pending her next hearing date.

Stephanie Sue Leatherman, 32 of Cumberland, was transported by the Combined County Warrant Unit from Maryland Correctional Women's Institute in Jessup, MD and served a District Court Arrest Warrant for Burglary-4th Degree-Store. Leatherman was released on a $2,500 Unsecured Personal Bond.
