West Virginia is launching an expansive hiring effort for leaders to oversee the historic $199 million dollar investment in rural healthcare. The state received the money from the federal government’s Rural Healthcare Transformation Program. Directors and program managers are needed. State Secretary of Health, Dr. Arvin Singh, says they are ready to hit the ground running with the program. “The money is an opportunity for the state of West Virginia to really look at how we can use federal dollars to build state capacity. How can we reduce the federal dependency long term? How can we create sustainability, early intervention, community-based care, prevention, chronic disease reversal?”
