On Sunday, January 4, 2026, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 900 Block of Maryland Avenue for the report of a male trespassing inside the residence. Upon arrival, Officers observed clearly posted signage that prohibited trespassers from entering the property. Shawn Ellington was located inside the residence and placed under arrest. He was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where he awaits his initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.

ARRESTED: Shawn Mark Ellington  AGE: 39       Cumberland, Maryland
CHARGES: Burglary Fourth Degree, Trespassing Posted Property.
