According to the Allegany County Public Schools website, there is vacancy at Mtn. Ridge for head football coach. After three straight state football championship berths, Mtn. Ridge head football coach Ryan Patterson has decided to step down. Patterson replied to WCBC's Garrett Eagan via text that he had been considering the move for some time. Patterson added he will stay in coaching, but it was time to step aside from his current role.
In the last three seasons as state runner-up, Mtn. Ridge went 34-5 under Patterson, and was the only blemishes on Fort Hill’s record the past four seasons – one during the ‘20-‘21 COVID-shortened year, and one during the ‘22-‘23 regular season. The job is posted, but it may be safe to assume Mtn. Ridge will look for a successor within the program.
