ACM new home of adult basic education in Allegany County

Allegany College of Maryland, which has educated returning adult learners since its founding, is the new home of adult basic education programs in Allegany County.

These programs, which offer preparation for high school equivalency and literacy services for family and workforce development, were formerly operated by Allegany County Public Schools.

They are now administered by ACM’s Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development. Funded by grants from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation and the U.S. Department of Education, adult education program provides academic and related services to state residents who seek a high school diploma for transition to college and careers.

Allegany County’s Adult Basic Education Program is now headquartered at ACM’s Gateway Center in downtown Cumberland.
