It has been confirmed that AES Warrior Run will cease coal-powered production as of June 2024. WCBC spoke to Allegany County Commissioner Bill Atkinson this week after rumors circulated that the plant was closing next May. An email from plant manager Matt Ottaviani to Commissioner Atkinson states that the plant will cease coal production June 1, 2024 but no decision has been made to retire the unit.
