The Allegany County Commissioners Thursday approved the implementation of a new salary scale which could result in higher pay for many of its roughly 530 employees. The county officials had commissioned a salary study from Evergreen Solutions of Tallahassee, Florida. The study revealed that county salaries were below market, however that was seen more at the lower end of the pay classifications. County Administrator Jason Bennett said that the county kept salaries steady for years during challenging financial times- and it’s only fair to provide increases now that the fiscal picture is much more robust…
In a related action, the commissioners voted to offer retirement incentives to offset some of the cost. Kristi Liller, director of human resources, said the county can only speculate as to how many employees will choose to apply for this program…
