Allegany County has been named one of the Best Places to Visit During Fall by USA Today’s 10Best, securing the second spot on the top 10 list. A panel of travel experts partnered with USA Today’s 10Best editors to select the initial 20 nominees. The public had the final say, voting on the best destination during a four-week online voting contest. The Mountain Side of Maryland finished in the second spot behind Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Other destinations getting votes included Mackinac Island, Branson Missouri, Stowe Vermont, Greenville South Carolina, Bayfield Wisconsin, Cody Wyoming, Taos New Mexico and Asheville North Carolina.
