BENCH WARRANTS SERVED

On Friday, July 7, 2023 at approximately 3:04 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department located Samad Waller riding a bicycle in the Downtown area.  Officers confirmed that Waller had three active bench warrants for his arrest.  Police contacted Waller and advised him that he was under arrest.  Waller resisted arrest and pulled away from the officers as they attempted to place him in hand restraints.  Officers were eventually able to take him into custody.  Waller was served with the warrants.  One warrant was issued as the result of Waller violating probation on an original charge of Resisting Arrest.  A second warrant was issued for failing to comply with a court order.  Waller was originally charged with 2 counts of Malicious Destruction of Property less than $1,000 and one count of Malicious Destruction of Property greater than $1,000.    The third warrant was issued as the result of Waller violating probation on an original charge of Assault- 2nd Degree.   Waller was also charged accordingly for resisting arrest.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner for his initial hearing and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
