ARREST WARRANT SERVED/ CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED

On Thursday, April 6, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Ronald Ketterman and a criminal summons on Jacob Haines.  Charges against Ketterman and Haines stemmed from an incident that occurred on March 4, 2023.  On this date at approximately 5:16 PM, Haines reported to the Cumberland Police Department that he was assaulted by Ketterman.  He explained that Ketterman was driving his car back and forth on Memorial Avenue, honking his horn and revving his engine.  Haines advised that Ketterman was causing a disturbance and attempting to start a fight with him.  Haines stated that he confronted Ketterman and an altercation ensued.  Haines reported that he attempted to open Ketterman’s driver’s door and strike him with a baseball bat at which time Ketterman backed up and then drove away while Haines attempted to hold onto the vehicle door. Haines explained that he was struck by the driver’s door and then thrown off of it as a result of the altercation.  After further investigation, police filed for charges against Ketterman and Haines at the District Court of Allegany County.  Ketterman was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.  Haines signed for his copy of the summons and was released pending trial.

CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED

On Thursday, April 6, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Rodney Merica.  The summons was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on March 16, 2023.  On this date at approximately 4:09 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 100 block of Baltimore Street for a theft complaint.  Police contacted the victim and learned that Rodney Merica was reported to have sold stolen jewelry to the business.  After further investigation, police filed charges against Merica at the District Court of Allegany County.  Merica signed for his copy of the summons and was released pending trial.
