On Friday, October 13, 2023 at approximately 9:47 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 500 block of N. Centre Street for an assault in progress. Police arrived on scene and contacted the alleged victim who reported that she had been assaulted by Joseph Wood. The victim had sustained injuries. Officers also confirmed that Wood had three active bench warrants for his arrest. The warrants had been issued as the result of Wood failing to appear in court on October 5, 2023. Wood was originally charged with Disorderly Conduct, Disturb Peace/Hinder Passage, and Intoxicated Public Disturbance. Wood was located inside the residence and placed under arrest. He was transported to Central Booking where he is currently awaiting his initial appearance.
