At approximately 2:54pm Friday deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division and Cumberland City Police attempted to serve a felony Baltimore City warrant on Calvin V. Evans at 119 Independence Street, Cumberland, Allegany County. When officers and deputies approached the residence Evans fled into the house and refused to surrender. With the assistance of the Allegany/Garrett Crisis Negotiation Team, Evans surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody. Evans was transported to the Allegany County Central Booking where he is awaiting his initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Cumberland City Police Department and the Allegany/Garrett Crisis Negotiation Team.
