Board of Education Asked Investigate Management & Administration of Mountain Ridge High School

December 13th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

Julia Williams, a woman who says she has a granddaughter attending Mountain Ridge High School, challenged the Allegany County Board of Education Tuesday night to begin an investigation into the management and administration at that school. Pointing to the two cases in recent years where Mountain Ridge teachers were accused- and one convicted- of having sexual contact with students- as well as a recent assault of a child with autism- Mr Williams implored the board to take action. It was last month that a teacher was indicted by a grand jury for his involvement with student- and last week a video went viral on social media of a child with autism being punched several times while sitting in the school’s cafeteria. She noted that she is not hearing such reports coming from other schools- and yet it seems to be a pattern at Mountain Ridge. As is board policy, board members to not comment or respond to questions that are asked during the work session.
