John C. Byrd, MD, a physician-scientist in hematologic malignancies, has been named director of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Together with the University of Pittsburgh, Hillman is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and one of the country’s largest academic cancer treatment networks. Dr. Byrd will assume responsibility for all aspects of cancer-related basic, translational, and clinical research and education at both the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Hillman in November.
