MD Senate Seat Race Heats Up Between McKay and Shade

July 8th, 2022 by WCBC Radio

Less than two weeks before Maryland’s Primary Election and with early voting underway-  one of the more hotly contested local races is starting to see some old fashioned political mud slinging.  Delegate Mike McKay and Allegany County Commissioner Jake Shade are competing in the Republican Primary for the District One Senate seat. A mailer sent out recently by the Shade campaign did not sit well with Mckay- and it was a topic of discussion on  Thursday’s WCBC “Dave Norman Show” as both men had scheduled appearances.  The material, with a theme of “if it walks like a duck”, suggests that Mckay is beholden to what Shade called a “pro Biden liberal labor union” as he has secured an endorsement from AFSCME…

Mckay, noting that AFSCME represents state correctional officers, called the mailing “sophomoric” and accused  his opponent of dirty politics…

Shade and Mckay will participate in WCBC’s State Senate candidates forum scheduled for next Thursday evening- just four days before the July 19th Primary.
