On Thursday, July 23, 2025, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to the area of Canal Street for the report of a disturbance. While en route to the call, a second caller advised that an assault with a knife had occurred. Upon arrival, Officers interviewed several witnesses who were able to provide a suspect description. Officers were able to locate the suspect, William Charles Kinser Jr. The investigation was completed, and as a result, Kinser was placed under arrest for assault in the first degree. He was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where he awaits his initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.

ARRESTED:  William Charles Kinser Jr.      AGE: 51          Cumberland, Maryland
CHARGES: Assault 1st, Assault 2nd, Reckless Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct.
