On Monday, January 8th, 2024, Officers with the Cumberland City Police observed the driver of a 2007 Dodge not restrained by a seatbelt. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the operator, Daniel Ryan Williams, 40, of Frostburg MD. It was then learned that the driver had a suspended Maryland driver’s license. During the course of the stop, a police K-9 was utilized to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle which indicated to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, an amount of suspected fentanyl was located inside. As a result, Williams was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was also charged driving without a license and driving on a suspended license. Williams was then released, pending trial in District Court.
