The City of Cumberland and the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation have decided to continue on their same path after a closed session meeting was called to evaluate operations. The CEDC released the folllowing statement this afternoon:
Cumberland, MD- The Cumberland Mayor and City Council and the Board of Directors of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation agree that Cumberland’s vibrant economic future is best entrusted to the CEDC, continuing to build upon the current successes of the independent organization.
This independent structure is in accordance with the original 2014 Cumberland Strategic Economic Development Plan and the updated 2022 Strategic Plan as previously adopted by the Cumberland Mayor and City Council.
Cumberland’s economic boom and thriving downtown area will continue to mature upon the completion of the CEDC’s current capstone project, the multi-year, multi-million dollar Baltimore Street Revitalization.
