This coming Monday, Cumberland residents have the opportunity to add their views to the development of the city’s latest Comprehensive Plan. A public meeting at City Hall starts at 6pm to discuss elements of the plan that guides the city on land use, housing, and other services. Ruth Davis Rogers, the city’s historic planner, said the 10-year plan has been in process a while…

   

“We started in fall of last year. Some of your large cities – they’ll take three years developing the next comprehensive plan. But we’re smaller so it’s taken us about a year.”

Rogers stresses the importance for citizens to give their input to help make plan decisions…

   

“You know, the basic thing I want people to understand is this is our most important document. This is where we do need people’s feedback. And all our other plans you know, sustainable communities, parks and rec, green streets, whatever – they all fall under this plan.”
