Comptroller Brooke Lierman has released the agency’s first report on the impact of the federal government on Maryland’s economy.  The report shows that Maryland has the third-highest number of federal jobs in the nation and is home to 50% of all jobs under the Department of Health and Human Services.  An estimated 229,000 Marylanders are employed by the feds, and earn almost $30 billion dollars annually. Another 153,000 receive $8.8 billion in federal retirement income annually.
