The Allegany County Commissioners met Thursday afternoon for another budget session to chase down ways to arrive at a balanced budget. While County Administrator Jason Budget says there are a lot of moving parts and the county is still awaiting final direction from the state, commissioners decided to roll back the property tax from a proposed six cents to two cents, increase the income tax to 3.2%, level-fund the library system saving $87,000 and eliminate 10 county positions, most through retirements. The first preliminary budget will be presented May 1.
