CPD Serves Warrant & Makes Assault Arrest

On Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 The Cumberland City Police Department served a District Court warrant on Roy Thomas Engle of Cumberland for an incident that occurred back in March, 2016 at a residence on W. Second Street.  According to the charging document, Engle was employed by an elderly male on W. Second Street and he admitted to destroying a lock box and removing a sum of money belonging to the elderly homeowner.  Engle was taken before the District Court Commissioner and then remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.  Roy Engle was also served a Violation of Probation warrant issued by Circuit Court for this incident.

Arrested:  Roy Thomas Engle, age: 31, Cumberland, MD.

Charges:  Destruction of property under $1,000, theft less than $1,000, obtaining property of a vulnerable adult, and violation of probation.

 

Assault Arrest

 

On Tuesday, September 13th, 2016 The Cumberland City Police Department responded to a residence on Somerville Avenue for a check on well being complaint.  When Officers arrived, it was learned by talking to occupants of the residence, that an assault had occurred and one of the residents was injured.  Christopher Scott Moss of Cumberland was identified as the suspect in the assault and was arrested by Officers.  He was taken to the Cumberland City Police Station for processing and issued his charging documents.  Moss was then taken to the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bail.

Charge:  Assault 2nd degree.
