Cumberland Recognizes White Cane Awareness Day

Today is White Cane Awareness Day – an event recognized in the city of Cumberland and around the nation. White Cane Awareness Day is honored every year on October 15, bringing attention to the ability of those with vision loss to move about on their own while using this important tool and the general public's need to be mindful of those using these canes to give them the right-of way. At a meeting earlier this month, Western Maryland chapter of the NFB received proclamation’s from Allegany, Garrett counties and the city of Cumberland officially proclaim October 15th as White Cane Awareness Day.
