Governor Recognizes Allegany College of Maryland’s 60th Anniversary

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan issued an official proclamation on Sept. 20 in recognition of Allegany College of Maryland’s six decades of growth and its many “positive contributions to the western Maryland region and beyond” since its founding as Allegany Community College in 1961. The governor’s proclamation on behalf of all Maryland citizens was presented by Mark Widmyer (left), his western Maryland representative, to Allegany College of Maryland President Cynthia Bambara (middle) and Board of Trustees Chair Kim Leonard (right). The college's first day of classes was September 25, 1961.
