Cumberland Woman Arrested after throwing brick at Police Cruiser

On Sunday, afternoon at approximately  4:35 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the first block of Washington Street for a female destroying property at the Circuit Court building.  Police arrived on scene and observed Jennifer Shoap acting irate and yelling obscenities.  As the officer was exiting her vehicle, Shoap picked up a brick and threw it in the officer’s direction, striking the police cruiser.  The officer was able to physically overtake Shoap and then handcuff her with the assistance of another officer.  Further investigation revealed that Shoap had destroyed multiple items at the property.  Shoap was arrested and transported to the police station for processing.    She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
