Destruction of Property Investigation and Arrest

On February 11th, 2024, at approximately 12:23 am, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 100 block of Harrison Street for a reported destruction of property complaint. A witness reported they had observed a subject break the window of the business and flee the area. The witness provided a description and officers began searching for the suspect. The officers discovered two additional properties that were destroyed. As the officers searched for the suspect, they located an additional business damaged in the 200 block of South George Street. As officers continued their investigations on each of the incidents, they were dispatched to a destruction of property at a business in the 600 block of Queen City Drive. As the officers collected evidence and developed a suspect, they received a report of another destruction of property occurring in the 700 block of Park Street, and were provided with a description of the suspect that was developed. Officers were able to locate James Langway matching the description provided on Industrial Boulevard, and placed him under arrest. Through the evidence collected officers were able to determine Langway to be responsible for the other destruction property incidents. Langway was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center where he awaits his initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner. Arrest: James Robert Michael Langway, age 35, Cumberland Maryland.

Charges: Seven Counts of Destruction of Property, and Destruction of Property Scheme.
