Not much will be changing with the lighting of downtown Cumberland’s Christmas tree, but a large crowd is expected for the event. The event will kick off with music by a local disc jockey at 4:30pm Friday afternoon before live music begins at 5:15. Baltimore Street will be closed to traffic and parking for the tree lighting at the corner of Baltimore and Liberty Streets.. DDC Director Melinda Kelleher said the Mathews family of Bedford Street will be on hand to turn on the lights of the tree they donated to the city…
“The ideas is that Emmanuel Episcopal will light the tree on their hill first. And then the small trees on Baltimore Street will light up in sequence down the street. And then last will be the big tree at the Liberty Street Plaza.”
