Energy Assistance Funding Announced

October 27th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

Maryland’s Senators announced more than $74 million in energy assistance for low-income families this week.  The federal dollars were made possible in part through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and comes by way of the Department of Health and Human Services.  This year’s funding adds almost $2 million more to Maryland’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program. The money will help reduce costs associated with home energy bills, weatherization, and energy-related repairs for low-income families to cool and heat their homes. The lawmakers said that access to heat is a health and safety issue and with colder months approaching, these federal funds will help ensure Maryland families can stay warm this winter.
