Fatal Crash Reported in McHenry

On Monday, November 22nd, at approximately 9:04 p.m., the McHenry Barrack received numerous 911 calls for a dark colored pick-up truck traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 68 near Friendsville, Garrett County, Maryland.  While Troopers were responding to the area, several other calls came into the Garrett County 911 center for a motor vehicle collision at the 6 mile marker of westbound Interstate 68, involving the pick-up truck from the previous calls.

When Troopers arrived on scene, they determined that the pickup truck traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the Interstate 68 collided with 2 westbound passenger vehicles, a Toyota Pruis and a Dodge Journey .  As a result of the collision, the at fault driver of the pickup truck, a 51 year old Meyersdale, PA man, was transported by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV, where he was later pronounced dead.  The driver, 39 year old male of Macungie, PA and passenger, 30 year old female of Macungie, PA from the Toyota Puris were also transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV, for treatment of their injuries.

Interstate 68 was closed for several hours during the investigation by the Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack and the Maryland State Police Crash Team.  The investigation is ongoing.
