On 03/15/15 at approximately 2:02 AM the Cumberland Police Department received a call for a Motor Vehicle Accident on the Canal Parkway near the Wineow Street intersection. Cumberland Police, Allegany County Sheriff’s and the Cumberland Fire Department responded. Upon the Officers arrival they determined the Motor Vehicle accident involved a single motorcycle. After a preliminary investigation it was determined the Motorcycle struck a guardrail causing the operator to be ejected from the motorcycle. The operator succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The name of the operator has been withheld due to the notification of the family. The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation as well as the accident reconstruction in connection with the Cumberland Police Department. The Maryland State Police also assisted at the accident as well as the Allegany County Fire Police. The investigation is ongoing.
