On 7/8/23 at 3:34 hours S/Tpr. J. Bussard and Cpl Ciccarelli from the Hagerstown Barrack responded to the area of I-70 in the area of the 27 mile marker to investigate a single vehicle collision. Investigation revealed a silver Lexus WV registration 68Y429 was traveling westbound on I-70 when it left the roadway, traveled through the median, overturned and came to rest on the E/B shoulder of I-70. The vehicle then caught on fire. The driver and only occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. The roadway was shutdown briefly to extinguish the fire.
TFC Carter responded to the scene to conduct the advanced collision reconstruction. CHART was notified of the collision and responded to assist with the scene. The Medical Examiner’s office was notified of the death. Fire Marshall Ernst responded to conduct the fire investigation.
