Frostburg man sentenced on robbery charges

The Office of the State's Attorney for Allegany County, Michael O. Twigg, State's Attorney, announced the sentencing of Ronald Dewain Smith, 26, of Frostburg, Maryland to 15 years in the Maryland Department of Corrections for his role in a string of burglaries and thefts in the greater Frostburg area.  In addition to burglarizing a local business, Mr. Smith was found to be in possession of several items that were reported stolen from homes in Frostburg. In addition to the 15 years in the Department of Corrections Mr. Smith was given and additional 6 years suspended conditioned upon him making restitution to the victims in the matter for items not recovered and that he successfully complete treatment for addiction issues.  Failure to make restitution, complete treatment or have any violations of the law could trigger him returning to prison for the 6 years suspended in the case. The case was prosecuted by Michael O. Twigg.  Mr. Smith was represented by David Schram of the Public Defender’s Office.  The Honorable Gary Leisure presided over the matter.
