WBAL reports that just before 4 p.m., court wrapped up for the weekend, at the second degree murder trial of Officer Caesar Goodson, the police van driver, charged in the death of Freddie Gray. Before court recessed, Judge Barry Williams said," the next witness will take a while." Four prosecution witnesses testified today. The most recent, Jemell Baker who watched along Mount Street as Officers take Freddie Gray out of the van and put flex cuffs on him, and then load him back into the van.
Also testifying Brandon Ross, Freddie Gray’s friend who took video of the exchange. Awaiting trial on assault, Ross remained in handcuffs while testifying, and said he saw Officer Goodson close the van door after Gray was loaded into the van.
The main witness today Dr. Carol Allan, the medical examiner who conducted Gray’s autopsy, and defended her findings.
The state has presented 12 witnesses over two days.
The next witness could be Officer William Porter, who faces a retrial in September for his role in Gray's death.
Sources tell WBAL NewsRadio 1090 that Porter will ttake the stand Monday.
Porter's attorneys, Gary Proctor and Joe Murtha, were seen in the courtroom today, watching the proceedings.
Court will resume at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
