During his speech he reviewed both this year’s and last year's funding for Western Maryland. Funding over one and a half million dollars to the Canal Place River Park project, $1.2 million for renovation for the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Department. All in last year’s budget. This year’s budget is proposing a $2.6 million dollar investment for the new Friendsville Library and $1.5 million dollars for Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Also being proposed is over $37 million in capital projects for both Allegany and Garrett counties by investing responsibly and boldly, and not raising Maryland taxes.
