Governor Wes Moore Endorses Angela Alsobrooks for Senate

Governor Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor Miller endorsed Angela Alsobrooks for U.S. Senate in front of at a packed United for Maryland Rally in Baltimore.

“Today, I am proud to announce my endorsement of County Executive Angela Alsobrooks to be Maryland’s next United States Senator! The world needs America’s leadership now more than ever; The country needs Maryland’s leadership now more than ever; And that leader is Angela Alsobrooks!" said Govenor Wes Moore. "Angela is a fighter. Angela is a leader. Angela is a public servant in every beautiful sense of that phrase. I believe that if you never forget who you are fighting for, you will never stop fighting. I believe that if you never forget why you do the work, the work will never exhaust you. And to understand why Angela is so good at what she does, you have to know her story. Because for Angela, this work isn’t political. It’s personal."

“Governor Moore is a champion for Maryland, putting in place policies that support new infrastructure and transportation, education, a healthy environment, and programs to uplift hardworking Marylanders. I am honored to receive his endorsement,” said Alsobrooks. “I look forward to having Governor Moore as a partner, and as a U.S. Senator, I look forward to working in with him to ensure that all Marylanders have what I want for my own family; safe communities, access to a quality education, jobs and economic opportunities. We will go farther together.”

Governor Moore was joined today by Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball, and Baltimore County Councilman Julian Jones, Jr., all of whom also endorsed Angela for Senate.

More than 100 leaders from across the state have endorsed Angela’s campaign, including: Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman Steny Hoyer, Congressman Kweisi Mfume, and Congressman Glenn Ivey; Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Maryland Treasurer Dereck E. Davis, Maryland Senate President Bill Ferguson, Maryland House of Delegates Speaker Adrienne Jones, and Former Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh; Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman, the State’s Attorneys from Baltimore City, Montgomery County, and Charles County, and many more.

Angela also earned the support of Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA), as well as organizations including the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, EMILYs List, Delta for Women in Action (D4), The Collective PAC, and Higher Heights for America. Angela has spent her life in public service. After law school, Angela worked as a law clerk for the Howard County Circuit Court and later the Baltimore City Circuit Court, before becoming a line prosecutor in the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office. Angela, who served two terms as Prince George’s County State’s Attorney and is the sitting County Executive, is running for the U.S. Senate to be a voice for the families she’s worked for throughout her life.
