Maryland’s Department of Health is inviting applicants to a new funding opportunity to support service members and veterans through behavioral health programs. Selected applicants will be eligible to receive up to $100,000 in matching grants through the Sheila Hixon Behavioral Health Services Grant Program. More than 389,000 veterans and 53,000 active-duty service members call Maryland home and according to the American Psychological Association, veterans are 1.5 times more likely to die by suicide. Organizations that receive grants can provide services including screening, delivery of evidence-based mental health and substance abuse treatment, case management and tele-health services. Applications for the grants must be submitted by November 6th.
