On Sunday, April 9th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 600 block of Greene St for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the caller who advised they were mowing grass. They stated that a neighbor came outside and confronted them about dust being generated by the mowing they were doing. They advised the subject became irate and started to threaten them. It was then reported that the subject produced a handgun, pointing it at the caller. Officers then contacted the suspect and located a BB gun, matching the description given by the caller. As a result, James William Cowgill, 32, was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was released on a $5000 unsecured personal bond.

Charges: Assault 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Assault 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct.
