Grim Points to Ethical Concern on Morriss and CSX

July 5th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

When it comes to an election year, apparently politics does not take a holiday. In the past few days a story has developed concerning Ray Morriss, the top vote getter in last week’s Primary Election for mayor of Cumberland and his ownership of CSX stock. The issue being is that the city has been and is expected to continue to be in negotiations with the railroading giant over infrastructure and safety issues. Mayor Brian Grim says the  issue  should be  an ethical concern for public servants. Grim, who said he does not own CSX shares, said the mayor does negotiate and vote on CSX issues and that Morriss’  CSX stock ownership is a concern. It should also be noted that current council member Eugene Frazier is also retired from CSX and also owns stock in the company. Morriss talked with WCBC News and isn’t concerned with the optics, and downplayed any ethical concerns saying that while he does own some CSX stock  there is no money to be made by anything the city does or doesn’t do. ..

More of Comrade Grim’s petulant propaganda. Councilman Frazier from CSX good, competitor Morriss from CSX bad. Typical democrat, appealing to emotion rather than intellect. Best for him if we all forget that Grim got Executive Director gig at Cumberland Neighborhood Housing Services only after becoming Mayor and in a position to slide them $$$. More Grim Times ahead for Cumberland it seems.

      > Funny, after two years having Councilman Frazier in office you did not hear anything about him owning stock in CSX. All of a sudden it has become an issue with Mayor Grim because Mr. Morriss is running against the mayor in the upcoming general election.
